Amur Tiger (Panthera tigris altaica): The Striped Monarch of Siberia

The Amur tiger, also known as the Siberian tiger, is the largest tiger subspecies and a symbol of strength and resilience. Found in the snowy forests of Russia and northeastern China, this majestic predator is highly adapted to its cold habitat. Its thick fur and large paws enable it to navigate through deep snow, while its sharp claws and powerful body make it an exceptional hunter.

Freshwater rivers and streams are vital for Amur tigers, as these waterways attract prey like deer and wild boar. Tigers are also excellent swimmers, often crossing rivers to patrol their territories. Despite conservation successes, the Amur tiger remains endangered due to poaching and habitat destruction. Protecting riverine forests is essential for their survival and the biodiversity of the region.
